By fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) we aim to nurture a workplace that is both safe and respectful for people of all identities. At Agate, every individual is encouraged to draw on their unique abilities, experiences, and insights to help end homelessness and hunger.  The varied cultural backgrounds and experiences within our team enhance our ability to connect with and support individuals from diverse backgrounds in our programs.

We consider lived experience with homelessness to be a valuable asset in our work and are committed to hiring practices that build a workforce that is reflective of the communities we serve.

Diverse program needs at Agate mean that remote work looks different for various positions. For our site-based programs, such as the Food Centre and Shelters, staff presence onsite is essential for much or all of their work. These positions are integral to the direct services we provide and require in-person engagement. Similarly, our case management positions are community-based, with a focus on meeting participants in their own spaces, as per their preference. This could include visits to their residences or other locations they choose. This approach underscores our commitment to providing personalized, participant-centered support, ensuring that our services are accessible and tailored to the individual needs of those we serve.

Because we place a high value on collaboration at Agate, every position includes the expectation of spending some time on-site. This approach is integral to fostering a team-oriented environment and ensuring effective communication and cooperation among our staff. Consequently, it is necessary for candidates to reside within commuting distance of the Twin Cities to accommodate this aspect of their role.

We encourage applicants with lived experience to apply including past program participants. However, if you have received services from Agate Housing and Services within the last two years this will make you ineligible for employment.

At Agate, we offer a variety of opportunities for professional growth, including ongoing training and development programs tailored to support and enhance our employees’ career trajectories.
