Volunteer with pride

Volunteers are critical to the work we do. They’re an integral part of our mission to end homelessness and relieve hunger through action and advocacy. Become an Agate volunteer to help change someone’s life for the better. We adapt our volunteer roles to the changing needs of our programs and guests.

Connect people to the resources they need!

Ted Pouliot, long-time volunteer and community partner, has spent a great deal of his life helping people and even after retirement, he contributes to Agate weekly. He has built up a list of programs, resources, and services, which he shares with the community on Wednesdays at the Food Centre. That leaves Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday open. Team up with Ted and help connect people to resources on other days of the week!

This role will be equipped with Ted’s resource binder, copy machine, and sign. The Resource Specialist would get trained on a Wednesday, working closely with Ted, and then start serving independently on a different day of the week. This is a great way to empower the community by equipping them with the tools they need.

Use your organizational skills to help out at the office!

Become an Administrative Assistant for our Rep Payee department by helping them alphabetize and file away important paperwork and records. Rep Payees work with hundreds of individuals with budgeting, and need some assistance keeping up with clerical tasks. By fulfilling this need, you would free them up to work more effectively with the people they serve. Depending on the need, you may be able to support other departments with clerical tasks after this project!
