Assemble kits our clients need
We always need the kits listed below to meet the needs of the people we serve, from an unhoused neighbor needing a meal to a program participant moving into their new home. Kit assembly is a great way for families, workplaces, church groups, and neighbors to immediately support those in their community. Click on the kits below to see details.
All supplies included in kits should be new and unopened.
Feel free to include a note wishing them well signed with your group name. Explicitly religious information is not permitted - we want every person using our services to feel included and respected with these kits. Great sample: “We’re wishing you well! From Ms. Brown’s 3rd Grade Class”
Hygiene kits are used by our Street Outreach and Shelter teams to meet the basic needs of the unhoused folks we serve. We suggest including 5-8 travel sized items in a quart size Ziplock bag or toiletry bag. Most groups donate 20-100 kits, but any amount is welcome!
- Most needed items: bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, disposable razor and shaving cream
- Secondary items: Body wash, lotion, non-alcohol based mouthwash, body wipes, wash cloth, comb or brush, floss
Snack packs are given to people who arrive at our Welcome Center to access supportive services. Being able to offer these packs makes an incredible difference in the daily lives of our unhoused neighbors.
We suggest including 4-6 items in a quart/gallon size Ziplock bag or paper lunch bag. Most groups donate 20-50 kits, but any amount is welcome! All items should be non-perishable and ideally contain a disposable bottle of water. See the list below for suggested items to include:
- Disposable water bottles
- Beef jerky or meat sticks
- Protein shakes or meal replacement drinks
- Soft nutrition bars
- Trail mix
- Fruit snacks
- Small cookie or cracker packs
- Soft candy or dried Fruit
- Water flavor packets like Crystal Light or Gatorade
- Plastic utensil kits [with fork, knife, spoon, napkin]

FAQs
Use this link to schedule an appointment! Supplies are dropped off at our main building (2309 Nicollet) during our appointment windows. All the instructions you need will be emailed to you after you make your appointment.
Our donation center is run by our incredible volunteers who give their time to help us stay organized and provide resources to those we serve. Because of this, we are not able to accommodate drop-offs outside of our regular hours.
While we also accept reusable water bottles, plastic bottles of water are our highest need as our Outreach teams are going out into areas to provide immediate/emergency care where there may not be safe drinking fountains/refillable water sources nearby.
We suggest providing soft snacks that aren’t chewy or sticky, or easy to eat snacks like chips and crackers. We do this because many of the people we serve are experiencing dental issues, so things like sticky granola bars or hard candy aren’t a good option. We also ask that you consider common allergies and preferences, like avoiding peanuts or pork.
All the items listed on this page are the most requested items by the people we serve, and each item or kit immediately makes a difference. Our program staff regularly provide updates on needed resources, and we share that information with you. From supplies for surviving Minnesota winters to household items that create stability, every gift is appreciated.
