Our street outreach team connects with people where they are—in encampments, parks, and on the streets. The team also holds regular office hours at our Welcome Center during the week, providing consistent access to support. Each week, the team engages with community members to share resources, provide necessities, and develop personalized plans for safe, stable housing.
The team distributes essential items including food, water, and hygiene kits, addressing immediate needs while building relationships. Each year, our Street Outreach team connects with nearly 2,000 people, with a focused goal: housing outcomes.
This service is particularly crucial for supporting people who are chronically homeless and may be hesitant to enter shelter or formal housing programs. For many, outreach provides the only pathway to address their homelessness. Small, dedicated teams have the unique ability to connect with thousands of individuals annually, helping them navigate complex housing processes while building trust in systems designed to support them.
Agate’s Welcome Center offers a reliable, welcoming space for people experiencing unsheltered homelessness to connect with our teams. For those working with Street Outreach who move around frequently, the center provides a consistent location to continue taking steps toward housing and stability.
Anyone can visit for basic needs: shelter from weather, bathroom access, device charging, water, snacks, and clothing items like shoes and socks. Beyond these essentials, the center offers vital services including:
- Medical visits with Healthcare for the Homeless
- Birth certificate applications (~750 applications annually)
- Meetings with housing case workers
- Mail services (~1,500 people served each year)
The Welcome Center serves as both a resource hub and a bridge—connecting individuals to the tools, services, and support they need to move from homelessness to stability.
